Overview
The MS-MACRO-REPRO is a compact and rigid stand for film digitising, copying flat objects up to A4 size, and small item photography. Uniquely, it is designed to be used either vertically or horizontally. It comprises a 65cm column with a sliding and lockable block with Arca-compatible quick release, a U-form baseplate with translucent plexiglass plate, and a mini tripod leg support. Further expansion of use is possible by adding lights, focusing rack and infinity cove background.
The MS-MACRO-REPRO consists of:
Repro Column
Mini tripod leg
Base frame with installed white translucent plexiglass plate. The stand will allow copying of A4 size items using a 50mm lens; film digitising (depending on the depth of the holder and light combination) can be done with a 50mm or 90/100mm macro lens.
The side arms of the base can be moved inwards by releasing the toggle locks, to clamp the Kaiser FilmCopy Vario film holder in place.
For photo or document copying, the base plate can be changed for the MS-REPLA which is a metal plate with laser-engraved grid. This is supplied with two magnetic strips to keep the item to be copied flat.
Depending on the camera being used, and the size and position of the subject, it may be necessary to add spacers between the column and the platform. The PLATTE-M2 spacers lock securely to both the column and the platform to achieve this.
When film digitising, fine focusing is critical and as with all 1:1 or larger macro magnifications a focusing rack makes this easy and quick to achieve. We suggest either the Novoflex CASTEL-MINI (if the camera set-up is to be reasonably permanent), or the Arca-pattern CASTEL-QP (if the camera will need to be removed from the stand regularly).
